Another Engagement Shot From David and Erin's Shoot Engagement Photographer in Hudson Valleyl
Here is another shot from the engagement shoot that I did with David and Erin. This was when the sun was starting to peek in and out of the clouds. We had such a funny day that day, because it was kind of raining, and kind of not. The weather just couldn’t make up its mind. I almost had to say that we would come back the next day to shoot more, because I didn’t want them to not have any shots without the the sun around. Engagement pictures should be happy and fun, along with a few more serious shots. This is one of those more serious shots that I liked the way it turned out. It has a fashion edgyness to it that I really like, and with them all dressed in black and white the contrast is great. This is one of my
favorite places to shoot in downtown. As it is for almost every other photographer in Hudson Valley.
This shot is pretty complicated as far as the photoshopping goes, and I really don’t want to get into all the details as to what all is involved here, but its a lot of color fill layers, and lots of multiply, overlay, and screen duplicates. Then I went back over and made sure that the skin looked correctly colored, because after all that they were looking like lobsters. Not exactly what people want in their engagement pictures.
I guess I can give you the basics of the shot though. 1/250th, f/3.5, and ISO 400.
After all that work to get all sorts of colors just right I did a black and white conversion just for fun, and I was extremely happy with the outcome. I have to say that I can’t actually pick between the 2. I like the black and white one because it looks like those old calvin klein fashion ads. I’m sure they will figure out which one works best for them, but for me, I can’t tell which one I want to put in my portfolio. Maybe you can help me decide?
