Hudson Valley Portrait Photographer { Brandi Senior Shots }
I took a nice little hiatus this summer with my wedding, my honeymoon and all sorts of other wild and crazy things that were going on this summer. I did however get the chance to do some senior portraits for my new cousin in law, who by the way, is a total doll. I don’t really do a ton of senior portraits, but of course I love portrait work. I also got a chance to learn a ton about my new cousin in law. She’s interested in acting, and she really wants to go out to NYU for college.
As it’s not really my style I decided not to do any of the shots where she leaned her head on a fake tree. I tried to do my best to take her senior shots in a more fashion, and edgy direction.
Of course she’s cute as a button so there really isn’t any edge here, but I did get a few shots that I’m really happy with how they turned out. Her red hair was a bunch of fun to process and came out so great in her shots. Her cousin (my new wife) did her hair and makeup before our shoot, and it looked fantastic in the nice light we had that morning.
This was the first time I’ve done a morning shoot for portrait work. Normally I shoot in the golden hour in the afternoon, but because of Brandi’s schedule we shot early in the morning. I will say that the light was different. For instance this first shot I posted here had such a nice calm light to it. It was easy to process it with a nice desaturated look to it.
I also got a chance to shoot really wide open with all my lenses, and I couldn’t believe how much fun that was. I love shooting with my 85mm all wide open, and getting crazy cool bokeh.
Hope you like em,
-Dave
